Coffee lovers will soon have another place to grab their favorite drink. A second 7 Brew drive-thru coffee stand is planned for Market Street, marking another step in the company's growing presence in Wilmington. Here's what to know about the proposed location.

Key takeaways

  • The bigger picture: 7 Brew is planning a second Wilmington location as the national coffee chain continues expanding across the Cape Fear region.
  • The details: Plans call for a 534-square-foot drive-thru coffee stand with two drive-thru lanes at 4607 Market St.
  • Why this matters: The project is part of a larger expansion that could bring around a dozen 7 Brew locations to the Wilmington area over the next five years.
  • The more you know: Construction is expected to begin this fall, with the new location anticipated to open in early 2027.

What to know about the new location

Franchisee Delight Restaurant Group submitted plans to the city of Wilmington for a new 7 Brew coffee stand at 4607 Market St.

At a glance

  • Location: 4607 Market St.
  • Building size: 534 square feet
  • Drive-thru lanes: Two
  • Expected construction: Fall 2026
  • Expected opening: Early 2027

Like other 7 Brew locations, the proposed stand will operate as a drive-thru-only coffee shop designed for quick service.

The company's first Wilmington location on South College Road is expected to open later this fall.

About 7 Brew

Founded in 2017, 7 Brew has become one of the country's fastest-growing drive-thru coffee brands.

Customers can order a variety of beverages, including:

  • Coffee
  • Tea
  • Smoothies
  • Energy drinks
  • Specialty beverages

The company began franchising in 2021 and now operates more than 500 locations across 38 states.

A bigger expansion is underway

The Market Street location is just one part of the company's long-term plans for the Wilmington area.

Earlier this year, Pak Luu, 7 Brew brand president at Delight Restaurant Group, told the “Business Journal” the company hopes to bring around 12 locations to the Wilmington market over the next five years.

Delight Restaurant Group currently owns the rights to develop approximately 100 7 Brew locations across:

  • Wilmington
  • Raleigh-Durham
  • Hampton Roads, Virginia

According to Luu, the company typically looks for:

  • High-visibility locations
  • Strong traffic counts
  • Nearby retail businesses
  • Commercial shopping areas

Where will it be?

According to site plans, the coffee stand will be positioned along Market Street with access from a road on the north side of the property.

Nearby businesses include:

  • Bojangles
  • 7-Eleven
  • Circle K (under construction)
  • The former North 17 Shopping Center redevelopment

The surrounding corridor has seen steady commercial growth in recent years, making it a natural fit for another drive-thru business.

Looking ahead

According to a 7 Brew spokesperson, construction is expected to begin this fall, with the Market Street location opening in early 2027.

"We're always looking for opportunities to bring 7 Brew to communities where we can provide a convenient, high-energy experience and become part of the local community," the spokesperson said. "Wilmington has been incredibly welcoming, and we're excited to continue growing our presence in the area."

If completed as planned, the Market Street stand will become Wilmington's second 7 Brew and likely not its last. With additional locations expected over the next several years, residents can expect to see the drive-thru coffee brand continue expanding throughout the region.
