“Use It or Lose It” Campaign: Don’t Let Your Dental Benefits Go to Waste

As we get closer to the end of the year, there’s one important reminder we want to share with our patients: If you have dental insurance, now is a great time to check your remaining benefits and schedule any dental care you’ve been putting off.

Many dental insurance plans include an annual maximum, which is the amount your plan will pay toward covered dental care during the year. When the new plan year begins, that amount typically resets, and unused benefits may not carry over.

Think of it this way: You’re paying for dental insurance, so why not make the most of the benefits available to you? If you’re due for a cleaning or exam, or if you have recommended dental treatment you’ve been meaning to complete, scheduling before the end of the year could help you take advantage of benefits that may be available under your plan.

The same reminder can apply to many Medicare Advantage plans that include dental benefits. Coverage, annual allowances, and rollover provisions vary by plan, so it’s important to check the details of your individual policy.

That’s why we encourage patients to review their remaining benefits now rather than waiting until December. If you have care that’s due or treatment that you’ve been putting off, give our office a call. We can help you find an appointment that works for you and discuss which services may be covered under your plan.

Using your benefits isn’t just about getting the most from your dental insurance. Staying consistent with regular dental visits is an important part of maintaining your oral health. Preventive care can help us identify potential concerns early, before they have an opportunity to become more complicated or costly to address.

And if your dentist has already recommended treatment, completing that care now may help prevent an existing problem from progressing while also allowing you to put this year’s available benefits to work.

Don’t wait until the last few weeks of December to start thinking about it. Appointment availability can become more limited as the end of the year approaches, so planning ahead gives you a better opportunity to schedule the care you need.

Take a few minutes to review your dental insurance policy and find out what benefits you may still have available. Then give us a call or schedule an appointment online.

Your dental benefits are there for a reason. Let’s make sure you put them to good use before the year ends.
