Discount carrier Avelo Airlines has officially launched flights to two nonstop destinations from Wilmington International Airport.

The destinations are Fort Myers’ Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) and Hartford’s Bradley International Airport (BDL) in Connecticut. The airline revealed in July that the routes were coming to ILM.

Avelo operates both routes twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays, using Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft, according to a news release.

“Since the start of service at ILM just over two years ago, Avelo has continued to introduce travelers in the Wilmington area to a new era of affordability, convenience and industry-leading reliability. We’re excited to grow at ILM and provide two new nonstop destinations to Fort Myers and Hartford," Avelo Airlines founder and CEO Andrew Levy stated in the release.

With the addition of Fort Myers (RSW) and Hartford (BDL), Avelo serves eight nonstop destinations from ILM. Hartford joins Southern Connecticut’s Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN), Washington, D.C./Baltimore (BWI), Philadelphia/Delaware Valley (ILG) and three Florida destinations: Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Orlando (MCO) and Tampa (TPA).
